SHREWSBURY, NJ — Things are looking rosy for Theresa, a Shrewsbury resident, who is one of the contestants on "The Golden Bachelor."

On Episode 1 of the ABC show she got a rose from the bachelor, meaning she appeared in Episode 2 that aired on Thursday night.

And the good vibes she felt from Gerry Turner, a widower who is the bachelor in the show title, continued when he singled her out for the "date card," asking her on a private date.

"You're never too old for love," the card read.

Theresa recently had her 70th birthday on the show; Turner is 71. The show centers on mature love.

Driving a classic car down a California freeway was the only stressful moment of the night for the pair. Turner, from Indiana, never drove on a California freeway.

But he appreciated Theresa's confidence in his driving - and her reassuring pat on the shoulder. "You're doing great," she told him.

The date at a vintage-style diner brought Turner back to his days of owning a restaurant - nothing fancy - where he himself served fries and milkshakes to customers, he said.

The two settled in a booth and learned they each married their high school sweethearts, and both spouses sadly died. They had a lot in common and the conversation flowed easily about their memories, their shock at their losses and their hopes for the future.

Turner told Theresa you "can't stop believing."

And that prompted a diner dance number to "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey, with the staff and customers moving to a routine worthy of Hollywood.

Turner then presented Theresa with her second rose, before the diner crowd, which she was thrilled to accept.

Tune in next Thursday, Oct. 12, at 8 p.m. on ABC to see how Theresa's story continues.
