Superintendent Search Meeting in Red Bank

It's what's going on in the Red Bank-Shrewsbury area on Tuesday.

Happy you-know-what day — yeah, uh, Wednesday.

Well, we saw a little bit of snow — a few flakes — early yesterday, but it's not quite time for the plows yet.

The chill is definitely in the air, though, and there are things to do and people to see in the area today.

Around the towns today …

• There's a talk by historian Glenn LeBoeuf about what was on the dinner table at the first Thanksgiving at  7 p.m. at Monmouth County Library entitled The Real History of Thanksgiving.

• Leadership Advantage consultants will host a meeting about the superintendent search for Red Bank schools at the middle school at 7 p.m. There will be a small story and video concerning what to expect at that meeting.

• If your teen is in a kooky creative mood, bring them over to the Monmouth County Library in Shrewsbury for an Ugly Holiday Sweaters workshop. Yes, you read right. Teens in grades six through 12 must bring a plain sweatshirt and anything whacky and fun they'd like, such as tinsel, pom poms, ornaments … anything. From 5:50 to 7:30, the ugly sweatshirt creation takes place. Call the desk to register. Click here for more information.

Weather, sun and moon information …

• Yes, the bite in the air will be staying with us, but, according to the National Weather Service, there will be sun … with a high temperature of 41 degrees.

• Check out the sun, moon and tide information for the Sea Bright area from www.tides4fishing.com:

"The sun will rise in Sea Bright at 6:41 a.m. and sunset will be at 4:40 p.m. Today we begin the day with the moon already visible in the sky, so first we will see the moonset, which will take place at 2:30 am at 274º west. Eventually, the moon will rise again in the east (83º) at 2:27 p.m.

"In the high tide and low tide chart, we can see that the first high tide will be at 5:12 a.m. and the next high tide at 5:32 p.m. The first low tide will be at 11:34 am and the next low tide at 11:47 p.m.

"The lunar phase is a Waxing Gibbous. Today we will have 9 hours and 59 minutes of sun. The solar transit will be at 11:40 am and the length of time the moon will be visible will be 12 hours and 3 minutes."

We'll be updating some business news, posting some interesting photos and more today. If we've forgotten anything, let us know.

In the meantime, I'll see you around the towns …
