RED BANK, NJ — A Hazlet man charged in a December shooting in the borough has been arrested in Florida and extradited back to New Jersey, Red Bank Police Chief Michael Frazee said.

Francis was arrested following a shooting near St. Mary’s Place in December.
On Dec. 7 at 1:51 a.m., Red Bank Police responded to a 911 call for gunshots in the area of 17 St. Mary’s Place, Frazee said.

Shortly after that call, officers were notified that a 36-year-old Long Branch man had arrived at Riverview Medical Center and was treated for a single gunshot wound to the left thigh; he was later released, Frazee said.
Sgt. Sean Hauschildt and Det. Shane Dengle later identified the shooter as Francis, who was not found locally and was tracked to a home in Florida, according to police.
Following his arrest, Frazee said he was extradited to New Jersey on March 5, where he was processed and booked in the Monmouth County Correctional Institute awaiting court proceedings.
“A tremendous amount of skilled hard work along with many man hours went into this investigation,” Frazee said. “I want to commend everyone from the responding police officers to Sgt. Hauschildt, Det. Dengel, Monmouth County Prosecutors Office and the U.S. Marshals for their dedicated work and resilience with never giving up as we are committed to bringing to justice those that wish to create havoc in our borough.”
