Voluntary Evacuation Orders in Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury Office of Emergency Management has declared a Local Disaster Emergency ahead of Hurricane Sandy's arrival.

A voluntary evacuation order has been issued for Shrewsbury residents in flood-prone areas following the borough's Office of Emergency Management's declaration of a Local Disaster Emergency Sunday night.
The declaration was issued at 7 p.m. and includes the following streets: Sunnybank Drive, Strauss Drive, Winding Brook Way, Blades Run, Monroe and North Monroe Avenue, Haddon Avenue, Riordan Place, and southern portions of the following streets: Traffaglar Place, Dorchester Way and Willow Court.
Additionally, the borough is prohibiting driving throughout the entire borough during the hours of 10 p.m. tonight, Sunday, and 5 a.m. Monday, except for essential personnel and emergency vehicles.

A curfew has also been declared for the use of streets and highways in the borough. No residents are to be on any public streets between 9 p.m. tonight, Sunday, and 6 a.m. Monday, except as authorized.
Hurricane Sandy is expected to arrive on New Jersey shores early Monday afternoon, bringing with it heavy rain and sustained winds of around 30 miles per hour.

Trash pickup throughout the borough has also been canceled both Monday and Tuesday, Shrewsbury Department of Public Works Manager Bob Wentway said Sunday.
