Four students in Ridgewood and Glen Rock have now won $2,500-per-year scholarships to college, announced the organization.
RIDGEWOOD AND GLEN ROCK, NJ — Each fall, thousands of high-achieving students in both public and private high schools wait to see if they're among the semifinalists who will compete for a college scholarship of $2,500 per year, no strings attached.
The students first qualify to be Commended Scholars through the non-profit National Merit Scholarship Foundation through their PSAT scores junior year.
Then, a pool of thousands of teens across the country is whittled down to semi-finalists, who must submit recommendations, grades, and other information to compete to be a finalist and win a monetary award from the foundation, through a school, or from a corporation.
