Bergen Prosecutor Traces False Bomb Threats To Teen
Six calls were made to local police departments reporting bombs at schools in Hackensack and Paramus, the prosecutor said.
PARAMUS, NJ – A 16-year-old boy faces charges after authorities saying he placed several anonymous calls to police departments claiming there were bombs on campus at schools in Hackensack and Paramus.
Between Feb. 27 and 28, a series of six calls were made from a caller who used technology to keep his phone line anonymous, which prompted response of police, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, Bergen County Bomb Squad, Bergen County SWAT Team and local fire departments to investigate the reports of explosives at the schools, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said.
After police determined the calls were false and there was no emergency, the prosecutor’s office, Paramus police and Hackensack police launched an investigation to trace the calls, authorities said.
