Wife Tried To Save Man Who Died In Bergen County Shed Fire: Prosecutors

Prosecutors have identified a man found dead on Thursday in a burning shed in Bergen County.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Prosecutors have identified a man who died in a burning shed in Moonachie on Thursday afternoon.

Ida Kaba, 70, was found inside the shed and pronounced dead at the scene, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office on Friday.

Prosecutors said that Kaba's wife Dzurie Kaba, 67, suffered non-life-threatening injuried while trying to rescue her husband from the blaze.

Prosecutors said that around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, the Moonachie police and fire departments responded to two-alarm fire in a shed in the backyard of a home on Oak Street.

First responders found Ida Kaba near the entrance to the shed, prosecutors said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His wife was treated on scene by the Moonachie Fire Department and Moonachie Emergency Medical Services, prosecutors said.

An investigation conducted by the Bergen County Arson Squad and local fire officials determined that the fire was not suspicious in nature, prosecutors said.
