Cars Collide on Hillcrest Road

Occupants of both vehicles escaped major injury, responders said.

First responders said the occupants of two vehicles that collided in Ridgewood's West Side Sunday afternoon escaped major injury.

Around 2:15 p.m. police, fire and EMS responded to the intersection of Hillcrest Road and Wilson Street, where they found a badly mangled Infiniti sedan and a Toyota Corrola with considerable front-end damage.

Airbags had deployed, there were pieces of the vehicles scattered around the road and Speedy Dry was tossed along the pavement to prevent fluids from leaking into storm drains.

Ridgewood Fire Department Lt. John Albano said the occupants of both vehicles refused medical attention at the scene. They were lucky considering the level of damage, he said. Albano did not know how the accident unfolded.

The police report had not been completed as of 5:00 p.m., Lt. David McDermott said.
