Community Relations Board of Ridgewood and Glen Rock to Discuss Role of Community Policing Feb. 18

The Community Relations Advisory Board of Ridgewood and Glen Rock will review judiciary procedures and the role of community policing within their environs at their next meeting on Feb. 18.
Bergen County Defense Attorney Malcolm Blum, Esq. and Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward will discuss judiciary procedure and the role of community policing, starting with a civilian stop through trial, with a reflection on process and procedure. The conversation will empower committee members to understand the judiciary proceedings that occurred in Ferguson, MO.

All Advisory Committee meetings are open to the public and provide a safe environment for community members experiencing or witnessing bias-related crime to be heard. The all-volunteer Board meets the third Wednesday of each month. The next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. All meetings are held in the Garden Room of the Ridgewood Municipal Center, located at 131 North Maple Avenue in Ridgewood.
The Community Relations Advisory Board, appointed by the Mayors of Ridgewood and Glen Rock, was created to overcome bias attitudes toward persons or groups based on their race, color, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or disability.

Individuals working or living within the Ridgewood environs who have experienced bias intimidation, housing discrimination, racism, sexism, or an injustice based on their immigration status or sexual orientation, are urged to contact the Community Relations Advisory Board of Ridgewood and Glen Rock.
