NORTH JERSEY, NJ — A 24-year-old Newark man has been charged with burglarizing 14 Dunkin' Donuts stores around North Jersey over two months — netting him around $18,000 in cash, prosecutors said.

Enajaim E. Bowman of Newark arrested last Tuesday and charged with 14 counts of burglary and other offenses after an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, with assistance from police departments in Union and Hackensack.

Prosecutors said that in January and December, they began seeing a "commercial burglary pattern" among crimes in Bergen, Middlesex, Morris, and Union counties, as well as in New York City.

They determined that the same suspect burglarized at least 14 Dunkin' stores in New Jersey in the wee hours, and tried to burglarize a 15th, but was unsuccessful.

Surveillance footage showed that Bowman would pry open locked doors and windows and steal from cash registers, safes, and the managers’ offices.

Four In Two-Hour Period

Prosecutors said that Bowman began his spree by hitting four Dunkin' stores in Edison from around 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Dec. 13.

He allegedly broken into a Dunkin Donuts at 691 Route 1 in Edison just before 1 a.m., prosecutors said. Then he hit another at 490 Route 1, then 1790 Lincoln Highway, and 1704 Woodbridge Ave. just after 2 a.m.

He waited until Dec. 21, prosecutors said, and then burglarized Dunkin' shops in Lodi, Hackensack, and Paramus, all in Bergen County.

On Jan. 17, prosecutors say, he hit shops in Summit, Chatham, Florham Park, and East Hanover.

On Jan. 19, he targeted Hillsdale, Emerson (unsuccessful), and River Vale.

The biggest heist was to a Dunkin' on Route 17 in Paramus on Dec. 21, with $2,988 stolen, prosecutors said.

He was charged with 14 counts of third-degree burglary, one count of third-degree attempted burglary, 12 counts of third-degree theft, two counts of third-degree criminal mischief, and seven counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, prosecutors said.

Ultimately, he stole $18,267.16 in cash and $140 in gift cards, and caused $10,000 in property damage, prosecutors said.

He surrendered last Tuesday to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and was taken into custody, prosecutors said. He was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
