Elderly Woman Dies In Fatal Bergen Fire: Proseuctor
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was not released.
An elderly Bergen County woman died after a fire broke out at her Montvale home Sunday afternoon, authorities announced.
A passerby reported a fire at a Montvale home on North Avenue just before 1 p.m., said acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced.
Fire departments from Montvale and surrounding towns extinguished the fire and found the woman's body inside the house, Calo said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was not released.

Neighbor Patrick Dolan saw the fire coming from the back of the house, NorthJersey.com ported. Smoke poured out of the front door when Dolan and another neighbor kicked in the front door.
The home was gutted, according to NorthJersey.com.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Arson Squad is investigating the fire. More information will be released later, Calo said.
