RWJBarnabas was formed from the 2015 merger of Robert Wood Johnson and Barnabas Health. It's headquartered is in Essex County.
RWJBarnabas Health has a partnership with Rutgers University, including the Rutgers Cancer Institute and Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
When asked if the providers will remain in network with the same insurances, Englewood spokesperson Brenna Holland said, "At this stage, there are no planned changes to insurance participation. As the process moves forward, any decisions related to insurance networks would be evaluated with our patients in mind and communicated clearly."
Agreement Terms
Under the agreement, RWJBarnabas Health will make capital investments and expand Englewood's outpatient services and community health programs.
“Englewood Health has a long history of providing superior care to the residents of Bergen County and surrounding communities,” said Mark E. Manigan, the president and chief executive officer of RWJBarnabas Health.
“Englewood shares a perspective and culture consistent with our mission of improving and sustaining the health of all New Jersey residents," he said. "The changing health care landscape presents new challenges, but also great opportunities."
“This transaction will ensure Englewood Health’s ability to deliver world-class care to the communities we serve in a broader way, with greater resources and more cutting-edge technologies,” said Warren Geller, president and chief executive officer for Englewood Health.
Past Merger Attempt
Back in 2019, Hackensack Meridian Health announced that it planned to acquire Englewood, but the federal government opposed the deal and the merger stalled.
