Fist Fight Result of Confrontation on Facebook, Police Claim

Two young adult males came to blows on Godwin Avenue in Ridgewood Wednesday night.

A fist fight in Ridgewood Wednesday night is believed to have been spurred by a dispute on Facebook, said.

According to Lt. Todd Harris, two young adult males came to blows on Godwin Ave. near Pomander at around 7:30 p.m. Each man is claiming the other was the aggressor and threw the first punch, Harris told Patch.

One of the men fled the scene and was pulled over by police near Overbrook and Northern Parkway. The other remained on scene and was treated by a Village of Ridgewood ambulance for precautionary reasons.

The dispute is believed to have stemmed from an issue that surfaced on Facebook, though the details are not yet clear, Harris said.

No charges have been filed as of Wednesday night. The identities of the two men have not yet been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
