Troops 144 and 145 will be out for the Ridgewood Street Fair on May 6.

The following was sent by a Girl Scout mom:

Girl Scout troops 144 and 145 love animals – dogs, cats, guinea pigs, all kinds of animals. The girls, fifth graders at , will collect linens and financial donations for animals Sunday at the Ridgewood Street Fair.

The two troops have been learning about animal safety during the past few months. They plan to spread the message of animal safety Sunday, May 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ridgewood Street Fair.

The eleven Girl Scouts have made posters about the topic and will be circulating flyers about animal safety. They also will collect donations of blankets, pillowcase, sheets and towels for animal shelters.

All cash donations would be greatly appreciated. The donations will be given to an animal shelter and will go toward vaccinating, neutering, spaying and other important services to protect animals.

One of the most important safety tips for dogs is the rabies vaccine. Troop members want to remind dog owners about a free vaccine provided at the annual rabies clinic at the Ridgewood Recycling Center on East Glen from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday May 23.
