Glen Rock Plans All-Day Celebration For 125th Anniversary
Glen Rock is marking its 125th anniversary with a massive all-day celebration on Sept. 14.

GLEN ROCK, NJ – Glen Rock is marking its 125th anniversary with a massive all-day celebration on Sept. 14.
Here’s a round-up of what’s planned for the Quasquicentennial.
9:00 a.m. -Kids’ fun run on Doremus Avenue.

10:00 a.m. - Re-dedication ceremony of the town's beloved Rock.
10:30-12:30 a.m. - Open house at the Glen Rock Historical Preservation Society at the Main Line train station including photos, artifacts and activities related to Glen Rock’s history.

1:00-7:00 p.m. - Festival at Wilde Memorial Park including:
- The Sub-Bourbonites
- Route 80’s Band
- New York State of Mind
- Children’s magic show and dance party
- Food and craft vendors
- Pie eating contest
- Children’s bike decorating and parade
- Plus a town-wide scavenger hunt
There is also an all-day sidewalk sale, however hours vary by merchant.
On Sept. 7, history buffs can learn more about the town's roots during two programs.
"Historical Reminiscences," a mini bus tour, encompasses Glen Rock’s historic sites, houses, the cemetery where Glen Rock’s early farmers rest, where special events took place, and interesting tidbits.
Gunnar Berg, former President of the Glen Rock Historical and Preservation Society, will narrate.
Tours are appropriate for children 12 and older, and will run rain or shine. The bus - which is handicapped accessible - will depart from the borough hall train station at 9:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Registration is required.
Also on Saturday, the committee has planned "an afternoon of historic interlude" in a tent outside of borough hall. Registration is required.
The line-up is as follows:
11 a.m. - Stories From Our Town On The Village Green
1 p.m. - The Buzz Cuts On the Village Green
1:45 p.m. - Heroes Abound On The Village Green
2:30 p.m. - Someone Must Wash The Dishes On The Village Green
3:30 p.m. - Thomas A. Edison, The Wizard Of Menlo Park, On The Village Green
