Hudson St. Parking Garage Groundbreaking Ceremony Planned

The ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. at the corner of Hudson and S. Broad streets.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ – An official groundbreaking ceremony on a new 240-space parking garage in Ridgewood is planned for Saturday at 9 a.m.

According to the village, the ceremony is set for 9 a.m. at the corner of Hudson and S. Broad streets. Afterwards, The Table at Latona's will serve coffee and a continental breakfast, and Pierre Michele's will provide croissants. Both businesses are located on East Ridgewood Avenue.

In August, the municipal lot was shut down through June 2020 to allow for the construction of the garage, which aims to provide additional parking in the downtown for shoppers, diners, employees and commuters.

During work, the sidewalk adjacent to the parking lot will be closed to foot traffic and pedestrians must use the sidewalk on the opposite side of Hudson Street, according to the village.

Hudson Street will remain open to vehicles during the first part of construction but will be shut down to cars for a period of between six to eight weeks in late 2019 or early 2020, the village said.
