Law: Kids Can't Shoot Pool in Ridgewood Without Parents' OK
Obscure 1974 law also prohibits shuffleboard and bowling unless consent is provided.

You already know it's illegal to discharge silly string in Ridgewood. But did you know it was illegal for children under the age of 18 to shoot billiards unless mom says OK?
According to Village code Chapter 103, "No minor under the age of 18 years shall be permitted to play billiards, pool, bowling or shuffleboard in any place licensed under the provisions of this article except upon the consent of his parent or guardian."
Such amusements are prohibited from being within 300 feet from a school, according to the code.

The law was adopted in 1974.
Of course, there are no bowling alleys or shuffleboard locales in Ridgewood (that we know of). Interestingly, though, a pool table has been a fixture at the Anne Zusy Youth Center in Village Hall for some time.

Per the statute, if the owner of the pool table, shuffleboard or bowling alley is found violating the ordinance, the town has the right to immediately seize the license.
Officials were not aware of any license forfeitures.
