Looking for Tom, Huck and Becky
New Milford resident Ferdinand Alvaro directs First Flight Theatre Company's July production of Mark Twain's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
New Milford, NJ resident Ferdinand Alvaro is directing First Flight Theatre Company's July production of Mark Twain's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. He is conducting auditions for the production on Sunday, June 8 from 1pm - 3pm at the Hermitage in Ho-Ho-Kus. For audition information visit the following link below or email firstflight2018@gmail.com.
Alvaro is looking for actors of all ages who are passionate about the craft, who are looking to work in a collaborative environment. Most of all he wants to tell a great story with great actors. He himself has been acting since age 5 and has been directing for the past 10 years. He currently teaches acting in a school on Staten Island, NY.
"I love the historical backdrop as well as the uniqueness of the Hermitage," says Alvaro. "The play is perfectly suited for being performed outdoors. It is one of those rare occasions where you don’t need a stage set to create an amazing backdrop. Working at the Hermitage is ideal, because the property takes us back to the 1800s when this story was written." He continued, "Tom Sawyer is a slice of American history. It is a story that everyone can relate to in many ways. We all have had moments in our life where we’ve had to make difficult decisions about things we weren’t sure about. I think it is a quintessential coming of age story."
