More Checks Stolen From Glen Rock Mailbox: Police

A woman said nearly $1,800 was taken out of her account after checks were stolen out of the mailbox in front of the Glen Avenue post office.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — More checks were reportedly stolen from a mailbox in front of the post office on Glen Avenue recently.

A Ridgewood woman reported to police Wednesday that four checks she mailed had been stolen and cashed, said Chief Dean Ackermann.

Nearly $1,800 was charged against the woman's bank account, which she closed, Ackermann said. The checks were mailed from the mailbox on Nov. 11.

The matter was referred to United States Postal inspectors. They are reviewing earlier thefts from the mailbox.

Anyone who mailed letters from this location between Nov. 11 and 12 is asked to confirm their letters arrived at their intended location. Any suspected theft should be reported to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 973-693-5450.
