Ridgewood Filmmaker Bringing 'Bad Parents' To Cannes
Caytha Jentis heads to France to provide a sneak peak of her new sports-centric satire film "Bad Parents" on May 16.
Filmmaker Caytha Jentis is bringing a trailer of her new comedy across the Atlantic for a run at international distributors at the world-renowned Cannes Film Market/Marche Du Film.
The satirical film, shot in Ridgewood and Bloomingdale over the last year, is premised on the bad behavior sports parents can exhibit.
"The movie is poking fun at sports parents," said Jentis, who wrote and directed the film. "The movie doesn't judge, it's satire but it's meant to be entertaining and create a dialogue as opposed to condemning."

The film is set to be released stateside during the fall and is largely built around the award-winning play Jentis created several years ago.
The film has a decidedly Bergen feel to it. Many of the investors are from Bergen and Passaic counties, Jentis said. Along with big-name talent like Janeane Garofalo, Christopher Titus, Cheri Oteri, Ben Bailey and others, you're sure to find familiar faces.

Ridgewood's Rosie McCooe, Debbie Phillips, Lauren Sudol are featured and Real Housewife Jacqueline Laurita makes a cameo.
"I make grassroots movies and this is a movie about here," Jentis said. "It's fun and exciting for me to work with other people on my movie projects who live in the community."
Bad Parents is produced by Jentis and Dorothy Fucito of Ridgewood, and co-produced by Carl Burrows of Hawthorne.
