Ridgewood Mom Knifes Boyfriend With Her Kid In Car In Fair Lawn: Cops

FAIR LAWN, NJ — A 22-year-old mother stands accused of slashing her boyfriend with a knife during an argument in her car, according to authorities.

The Ridgewood woman, who was not identified, sliced her boyfriend's left arm during the dispute at about 7:45 p.m. near an industrial property in Fair Lawn, police Sgt. Eric Eleshewich said.

She had knifed the 27-year-old while her four-year-old daughter was in the car, and subsequently drove off. Police caught up to her a short time later and arrested her on assault and weapons offenses, and additional motor vehicle violations, Eleschewich said.

Official charges are pending, the sergeant said.

The boyfriend, of Garfield, was taken to an area hospital where he got 13 stitches, and the child — who was found in the car with her mother — was turned over to her godmother, police added.

Police officials are not yet sure of the cause of the argument.
