Ridgewood Resident Falls Victim to Phone Scam
Police say the resident wired $539 after receiving a call from "American National Award."

A Village resident fell victim to a phone scam, police say.
The resident reported receiving a call on Jan. 29 from someone claiming to be a representative of “American National Award,” according to the Ridgewood Police Department’s press release. The caller stated that the resident had won a cash award, but in order to receive it, she must first wire over money.
The victim complied, and wired $539 to the caller.
