Ridgewood Resident Was Home During Attempted Break-In: Police

The woman heard a man knock on her front door and then saw him trying to force his way into her home through a locked back door: Police.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A woman caught a man trying to break into her Linwood Avenue home Thursday, police said.

A "suspicious person" knocked on the woman's front door. She then saw the man go to the back of the house and try to force his way into the house through a locked door, police said.

The man saw the woman and quickly left. A Bergen County Sheriff's K9 unit and personnel from the Crime Scene unit went to the house and assisted police with an investigation, police said.

The Ridgewood Police Detective Bureau is investigating. The home is on Linwood Avenue near Henrietta Court. Anyone with information or who may have seen a suspicious person in the area is asked to call Detective Steven Shortway at 201-251-4536 or email him at sshortway@ridgewoodnj.net.
