Ridgewood Speed Limits May be Changing
Monroe St. could be reduced from 35 to 25 miles per hour. Others may follow, mayor says.

The Ridgewood Village Council has aims to reduce the speed limit of one of its main thoroughfares, Monroe Street.
According to Ridgewood Mayor Keith Killion, the Citizens Safety Committee is recommending that the road, which runs north to south from the Waldwick line to Godwin Ave., be reduced from 35 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour.
Killion said he often observes people even exceeding the speed limit, particularly dangerous when factoring in it's a hilly road with a middle school (GW) at its southern base.

"Any speed limit that's 35 miles per hour in a residential zone is ridiculous," the mayor said.
Killion also noted Wednesday night that he planned on speaking with officials in Glen Rock to pursuade them to reduce the speed limit on Lincoln Avenue, a 35 mph hour zone even in a portion of Ridgewood. Grove Street in Paramus also transitions from a 35 mph zone to 25 at the Ridgewood line.
