Roots Steakhouse to Replace Blend Nightclub

An upscale steakhouse has signed a deal to take over the space that formerly housed Blend Bar in Ridgewood.

Roots Steakhouse, which has locations in Morristown and Summit, signed a deal on Friday, landlord Ed Sullivan told Patch Monday.

It will take at least six months for the new tenant to open at 17 Chestnut Street, he said. A renovation of both the interior and exterior is scheduled.

The New York-style steakhouse, part of the Harvest Restaurant Group, will have a full liquor license and an extensive collection of wines.

Chip Grabowski, a partner at Harvest Restaurant Group, did not immediately return a request for comment.

Roots has received generally high marks from Zagat and TripAdvisor, particularly for the quality of the steak.

The steaks, many of which are dry-aged, are priced between $30 and $43, though a 48 oz. porterhouse for two runs $80. There are also seafood, chicken and lamb chops options on the dinner menu, in addition to appetizers and salads. 

Prices are fairly high, with virtually all dinner menu items over $25. Lunch options include burgers, ribs, sliders, lobster rolls and more. Prices are generally between $11 and $20 on the lunch menu.

A dress code – men must wear a collared shirt – is required at its other locations for dinner service.
