Stolen Car From Glen Rock Found A Month Later, About To Set Sail

Law enforcement officials were able to nab a car that was stolen from a Glen Rock home before thieves could ship it overseas.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — In Glen Rock police news this week, law enforcement officials recovered a car that had been stolen from Glen Rock last month, before it could be shipped overseas.

The Glen Rock police said Monday that last Thursday, July 11, around 8:39 a.m., Homeland Security Investigations and the Hudson County Sheriff's Department recovered an Audi that had been stolen from a Hillman Avenue home on June 7.

"The vehicle was one of many stolen vehicles discovered inside a shipping container awaiting shipment overseas," noted the Glen Rock police.

In the past, thieves have tried to ship stolen cars from the Port of Newark to West African countries, such as Ghana and Monrovia. READ MORE: 7 Stolen Cars Are Nabbed In Newark Before Being Exported

The car had been left unlocked with the key fob inside, police said.

Between July 8 and July 17, 2024, members of the GRPD handled 342 calls for service, they noted.
