Two Incumbents, Three Challengers File for Glen Rock BOE Seats

Gene Calderon and Barbara Steuert are being challenged by Elizabeth Carr, Sean Massaro and James Chung in November, according to the county clerk.

Barring any unforseen circumstances, there won't be any filling in Glen Rock this time around.

According to filings released by the county clerk's office on Thursday, three challengers are aiming at the seats of incubments Terry Moore, Gene Calderon and Barbara Steuert.

Residents James Chung, Sean Massaro and Elizabeth Carr have filed petitions in Hackensack and will be on the ballot this upcoming November.

Whether they'll all run is less clear – the mother of Massarro, an 18-year-old EMT, due to an expected heavy college work load.

Carr is a frequent attendee of school board meetings and won't be accused of not being unfamiliar with education issues – she works as a school nurse in at Manchester Regional High School.

Calderon and Steuert were both re-elected in 2009 and would have been facing an April battle had the school board not elected to take the budget out of the voters' hands and move elections to November.

Terry Moore, a former borough council member, in 2011 after . She is not running for re-election.

Correction: Terry Moore is not running for reelection in 2012.
