Truck Driver Killed In 4-Car Crash On Route 17: Bergen County Prosecutor
A truck driver from Bergen County was killed and several people were hospitalized after a 4-car crash Thursday night, prosecutors said.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A truck driver was killed in a four-car crash on Route 17 on Thursday night, Bergen County prosecutors said on Friday.
Edwin B. Coreas of Bogota, N.J., was driving a box truck when he was killed in the crash, which occurred in Hasbrouck Heights just before 6:30 p.m., said prosecutors.
Proescutors said that the crash involved four vehicles in the southbound direction of Route 17, near the intersection with Franklin Avenue.

Coreas was prounced dead at the scene, prosecutors said.
Several people in olther involved vehicles were taken to an area hospital "with varying degrees of injuries," prosecutors said.

The southbound lanes of the highway were closed as detectives investigated, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said that Coreas, driving an Isuzu box truck, collided with another vehicle on Route 17 southbound, followed by a chain-reaction crashinvolving two additional vehicles.
Prosecutors said that criminal charges are not expected, but the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department is continuing to investigate with the assistance of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit.
