Village Looking to Fill Seats on Zoning, Planning Boards

Open spots also on the Community Center Advisory Board.

Want to give back to the village? The council is looking for residents interested in serving on the Community Center Advisory Board, the planning board and the zoning board.

According to a notice sent by Village Clerk Heather Mailander, "The Community Center Advisory Board develops policies and procedures for the operation of the Community Center facility and assists in the fulfillment of the County Municipal Alliance Grant requirements. Membership includes:  Senior Citizen residents; adult residents with children in the school system; adult residents with no children in the school system."

The Planning board, as some may know, "reviews site plans and subdivision applications; prepares, adopts, and amends the Master Plan; makes recommendations to the Village Council regarding amendments to developmental regulations and the official map."

It's currently working through big housing development applications downtown, a controversial and oft-delayed church expansion application, and as expected, a Valley application is likely to appear at some point in the future.

The planning board could lose Albert Pucciarelli after , though he might remain on the board. Councilwoman Bernadette Walsh may still keep her seat, though outgoing mayor Keith Killion's seat must be filled.

The Zoning Board of Adjustment "hears variance applications and appeals from rulings and determinations arising from the enforcement of Village zoning ordinances," according to the clerk's notice.

It's had trouble keeping members on the board over the years – recently after Doug Cronk and Dean Vellis were let go in what some believe was a .

The deadline for submissions is June 18. Interested residents should fill out a volunteer form (found on the villge's website) and include a cover letter indicating which board the resident wishes to serve, as well as a biography or resume.
