Village to Reevaluate Stance on Clearing Flood-Related Ditch
The village council last week declined a request to clear out a ditch on private property but is now looking into new claims flood issues could affect Veterans Field.

A week after telling residents a , new information brought by a resident may be changing the Ridgewood council's stance.
John De Pinto, of 343 Marshall Street, told the council the belief that only residents are impacted by a ditch running between Marshall and Warren Pl. is incorrect.
The homeowner said a storm water pipe running through Veterans Field beyond the rock wall and ending at his property needs to be cleared, or, according to De Pinto, it could lead to drainage problems on the south side of the field.

There is no easement agreement on record, he reported.
The village "politely declined" the request from residents to clear the ditch out last week, citing concerns of setting a precedent in attending to private property. The village has, however, cleared the ditch in the past.

Ridgewood staff members will be looking into Pinto's concerns, officials said.
