Week Ahead: Valley Meetings Kick Off, 26th Annual Spelling Bee

Monday

• Valley Hospital returns to the planning board with their latest expansion plans. The meeting – largely procedural with general overviews of the project – begins at 8:00 p.m. at B.F. Middle School.
• The Glen Rock Borough Council meet for a work session at 7:30 p.m. Among the agenda items is a shade tree policy.
• NY Giant coach Tom Coughlan will be signing copies of his book, Earn the Right to Win, at Bookends at 6 p.m.
• There will be a narrative lecture on the role of American women in war-time at the Ridgewood Public Library at 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday

• The Ridgewood Zoning Board of Adjustment will hear a continuing application to add a 7-11 convenience store to the Shell Station on Franklin Turnpike. Meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.
• Legendary coach Bobby Knight will appear at Bookends to sign copies of his new book, The Power of Negative Thinking. Knight will be there at 6 p.m.

Wednesday

• Ridgewood's municipal governing body are scheduled to vote on a pair of incentive raise ordinances at 8 p.m. Other agenda items include a gun control resolution, increasing police side-job rates and higher fees at Graydon.
• The Glen Rock Borough Council will meet at 8 p.m. for its regularly scheduled public meeting. No ordinances are on the agenda.
• Ridgewood school officials will be making a budget presentation at 1 p.m. at GW Middle School.
• The Ridgewood LSHSA will host a “meet and greet” coffee on at 135 Crest Road, Ridgewood from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
• The 26th annual Glen Rock Spelling Bee for 4th and 5th graders kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at GRMS/GRHS

Thursday

• Rex Brown, bassist for metal band Pantera, will be spilling the beans on the band's drama at Bookends. Brown will be signing copies of his new book, Official Truth, 101 Proof, at 6 p.m.
• The Glen Rock library trustees meet at 7:30 p.m.
• The Glen Rock Zoning Board of Adjustment meets at 7:30 p.m.

Friday

• It's Mardi Gras! The Ridgewood YWCA Newcomers Club is holding a mardi gras ball at the Indian Trails Club in Franklin Lakes from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
