NJ Transit police determined that the 76-year-old Waldwick woman was walking with a cane in a narrow space on the right-of-way between the rail and a fence. When a train passed, she lost her balance and fell onto the tracks, police said.
Police are still trying to determine if she was hit by the train, they said.
The woman was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center by the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps, police said. No further information is available.
