Around Town: River Edge Pet Licenses Due Monday
A weekly glance at what you need to know from Borough Departments
River Edge residents have until Monday to register their cats and dogs with the town. After that date, there is a $6 penalty fee. Checks should be made payable to the Borough of River Edge and sent to the Health Department, 750 Kinderkamack Road, River Edge, NJ 07661. Fees for a neutered cat is $6 per animal or $8 for a non-neutered feline. Neutered dogs are $11 and non-neutered canines are $14.
- Dog and Cat Licenses
In Oradell, if you forgot to renew your dog and cat licenses this past week, you will be charged an additional $5 per month, per animal fine beginning on Feb. 7. All spayed or neutered animals have a $10 license fee, while all others are $15.
- Recreation
The River Edge Recreation Commission sponsors an annual bus trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show on Tuesday, March 8. The bus leaves KBG Park at 8:30am and returns at 6:15pm. The cost is $50 per person for bus transportation and admission to Flower Show. For more information, call 201-599-6295.Oradell residents can travel with the Oradell Recreation Department via bus to the Philadelphia Flower Show on Thursday, March 10. Recreation will sponsor a bus trip to Caesar's Casino in Atlantic City on Sunday March 13. The bus leaves KBG Park at 8am and returns at 7pm. The cost is $30 with $25 Bonus in Slots .
River Edge Men can still mail in their registration for the Spring/Summer Softball Season by March 18 to the Recreation Office, 705 Kinderkamack Road, River Edge, NJ 07661.

River Edge Recreation also offers Adult Basketball (Tuesdays, 9-10:30pm), Adult Soccer (Wednesdays, 9-10:30pm) and Adult Volleyball (Mondays, 9-10:30pm) at River Dell.

- DPW
The Oradell the Recycling Center at the Department of Public Works will be open the first and third Saturday of the month, 9am to 12pm. The dumpsters will be available to Oradell residents for the disposal of the following items: household garbage, newspapers, corrugated, cardboard boxes, cereal boxes, commingled recyclable materials cans & bottles, metal/white goods, brush, concrete and garden debris.
Mulch and Wood Chips are now available for pick-up and delivery beginning in April through the River Edge DPW. A fee of $25 per load will be charged (for delivery only). To schedule a delivery, call 201-599-6275.
- Fire Department
The River Edge and Oradell fire departments are always looking for additional members from Cadets, Juniors to Regular members. For more information, contact the River Edge Co. 1 at 201-599-7333 or Co. 2 at 201-487-2817or stop by either firehouse on Tuesday night or Sunday morning; OFD can be reached at 201-261-5455 or by visiting the firehouse on Monday evenings.
- Ambulance Corp.

- Police
Residents who believe they have signed up with either NIXLE or SwiftReach to receive emergency notifications from either River Edge or Oradell should not assume they are on the contact list.
Residents in both towns are encouraged by officials to sign up at NIXLE.com to receive emergency notifications by text message or email as the River Edge Police and Oradell Office of Emergency use the free service to notify residents.
The Reverse911 system, also known as SwiftReach is also available to residents. SwiftReach is used in coordination with the three public school districts to relay information about early dismissals, delayed openings and closings.
