BERGEN YOUTH ORCHESTRAS TO PERFORM “CONCERT 127” With Special Guests David Kobayashi and Daniel Ro

Bergen Youth Orchestras (BYO), the oldest youth orchestra in northern New Jersey, will present “Concert 127,” its 127th performance, on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 7pm in the Emerson Junior/Senior High School auditorium. BYO will be featuring works of Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven. The auditorium is located at 131 Main Street in Emerson and tickets are $10 per adult, $5 for students and seniors.

Conductor Eugene Minor will lead the BYO Symphony, a full symphony orchestra for advanced young musicians exploring standard to unusual symphonic works.  Some of the pieces that BYO will be performing will be Tchaikovsky’s March from Second Symphony, Beethoven’s Second Symphony and Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4, spotlighting BYO violin winner, Daniel Ro.  David Kobayashi, a member of the BYO Board of Directors will also be conducting Haydn’s March from Military Symphony.

Daniel Ro has been playing violin since the age of five and has been part of the Bergen Youth Orchestras since the 2006 season.  He has learned under multiple teachers, several of them former students of Professor Sally Thomas at Julliard.  Besides having participated in local, regional and statewide orchestras, he also attends Manne’s Preparatory Division in New York, where he is currently under the instruction of Stephen Tieszen and plays as part of the Divisions Philharmonic Orchestra.

Besides being a member of the Board of Directors for the BYO since 2010, David Kobayashi is an attorney in private practice in Forest Hills, NY and also serves as the woodwinds coach for the InterSchool Orchestras of New York’s Turtle Bay Orchestra. He has also performed with numerous jazz and rock groups in NYC and New Orleans.
