For Second Year Municipal Aid Remains Flat
Budgets for boroughs will not be finalized until late spring

For the second year in a row, municipal aid to River Edge and Oradell has remained flat following this morning's release of state aid numbers by the Department of Community Affairs.
Oradell is expected to receive $792,225 while River Edge will once again have $1,070,715 added to the budget.
During his State of the Budget Address on Tuesday, Gov. Chris Christie stated that he would increase aid to school districts but have municipal aid remain flat. The Consolidated Municipal Property Tax Relief program would see a total of $1.34 billion in the $32.1 billion budget that Christie proposed.

River Edge which recently discussed its at a Council meeting is looking at a potential $154 to $185 tax increase on its residents. Oradell on the other hand is still in the process of finalizing the hiring of a new Chief Financial Officer before its budget could be completed.
The two boroughs have until the end of May to early June to approve their budget.
