Howland Avenue Resurfacing Projects Gets Funding Boost

With the new traffic light in place at the corner of Kinderkamack Road and Howland Avenue, River Edge turned its attention this week to resurfacing Howland Avenue up to the Paramus border. The borough funded project received an added boost when Sen. Robert Gordon and Asm. Tim Eustace presented a check for $146,500.

"One thing legislators try to do is bring as much state aid back into the communities," Sen. Robert Gordon said. "I am here to present good news in the form of a check symbolic for $146,500 for the Howland Avenue resurfacing project. I hope this is the first of many more checks I will be able to deliver."

Provided by the state Department of Transporation through the , the project began this week now has double the available funding. The borough previously placed $150,000 in its 2012 Capital Budget to cover all road resurfacing projects incase the state funding had not come through.

"This is just one small way the state can give back and hopefully we will visit more over the years," Assemblyman Tim Eustace said.

Milling and paving work on Howland Avenue began on April 17.
