Setting a modest goal of $3,000 in the first ever Jump Rope and Hoops for Hearts fundsraiser at , students exceeded that amount with the promise that gym teacher Matt Vassallo would come to school with a pink mohawk. Students in the lower grades, from one through four, took part in various jump rope exercises, while the older grades practiced their basketball skills for over a week. Overall students raised $6,531 for the <a href="http://americanheart.org" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">American Heart Association</a>.
