Rebuilding Golden Hawks Basketball Look to Expand on Last Year's Successes
River Dell was hit hard by the graduation of 7 seniors
Following the loss of seven seniors to graduating, the River Dell Golden Hawks enter a rebuilding year, with four starters returning to the court. Taking four of the starting five slots this season will be seniors Kyle King (forward/center), Brian Long Jr. (guard), Derek Rodriguez (guard) and swingman Brian McGoey.
The young team now looks to find replacements for lead scorer Tom May (12.1 points per game), blocking and rebounding wizard Eric Zapata (38 and 135), along with Matt Famularo, Tim Trochanowski, Kevin Belthoff, Andrew Weisberg and Alex Coppola.
But for 21-year coach Brian Long (father of Brian Long Jr.), the prospects of his team returning to the 2009-10 season record of 17-9, and competing in the Bergen County Round of 16 and North 1 Group 2 semifinals looks good already.

River Dell opens its season on Friday, 7pm at home against Indian Hills.
