Students at River Dell Middle School found a creative way to raise money to provide Thanksgiving dinners to local residents struggling with hunger—duct taping Principal Robert Urbanovich to a wall!

Last month, the school's Student Government Organization held a "Tape the Principal" fundraiser in support of Family Promise of Bergen County's annual Thanksgiving dinner program, which provides free holiday meals to families and individuals facing food insecurity. Students, teachers, and administrators raised $647 through this unique event, which the school then used to purchase 25 spiral hams and ingredients for 30 dozen cookies that the seventh and eighth graders baked themselves.

The hams and cookies were donated to Family Promise and served as part of the non-profit's 29th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 28. Volunteers from the Ridgewood organization served nearly 500 home-cooked meals to the community.
