Robert Harrison: From Wall Street to Fighting Obesity

Each week in advance of the River Dell Distinguished Alumni Dinner, Patch profiles one honoree

After graduating River Dell in 1972, Harrison attended Cornell University where he received his B.A. in government. He then received a BA/MA in politics, philosophy and economics at Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He also holds a JD from the Yale Law School.

After working as a corporate lawyer for Davis, Polk and Wardwell from 1981 to 1987, Harrison joined Goldman Sachs & Co where he became a partner in the firm’s investment banking division and global co-head of its Communications, Media and Entertainment group.

After 22 years working as a lawyer and banker on Wall Street, he then joined the Clinton Global Initiative where he serves as the chief executive officer. He previously served as the executive director of the Clinton Foundation’s childhood obesity initiative.

Harrison is chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of Cornell University, a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of American Rhodes Scholars and honorary chairman of the Board of Directors of the Henry Street Settlement, a social service agency founded in 1893 to address the impact of poverty in New York City.
