Runners Raise Awareness and Funds for Melanoma Research

Annual River Edge Run reached a new record with 694 participants this year

Over the weekend, runners from across town, Bergen County and around the country took to the streets of River Edge in the 31st Annual River Edge Run. The event reached a new record this year with 694 participants while raising money towards a new playground area near the Little League fields and for the  Susan Fazio Foundation for Melanoma Research  in memory of . Team Farrell clad in green t-shirts for the run raised $17,476 for Melanoma Research.

This year Solomon Too of New Milford completed the 5K race in 16:10 as the first place overall finisher. He was paced by Alan Wells of Orlando, Fla. (16:19) and Will Nowicki of Hoboken (16:43). 

Leading the women were Reeders, Pa., first place winner Jennifer Malavolta (18:59), Elizabeth Bissell of Wyckoff (19:41) and Sarah Schillaci of Ridgewood (19:47).

Westwood's Chris Carcich and River Edge's Will Daly battled for first place in the 14-19 year old division with 10 seconds splitting the difference. Carcich finished in 19:25 folled by Daly in 19:35. REGAL runner Shannon Goria took first in 23:34 in the 13 and under division.
