Troop 36 was established on April 11, 1911. Originally known as Troop 1, it was one of the first Boy Scout troops chartered in the USA and the second troop chartered in New Jersey. The Troop is sponsored by American Legion Post 41 and welcomed its first two Eagle Scouts in 1925, Mr. Robert Gilchrist and Mr. Robert Richardson. The Troop now has a total of 154 Eagle Scouts and counting. Last night, Troop 36 celebrated its birthday in a small ceremony among the current and former Scouts, Scout Master, and Assistant Scout Master. A larger celebration will be held in July when the town recognizes Troop 36.
