Welcome to the "Week Ahead," a weekly column that highlights what is coming up this week in RiverDell as each of the tri-district Boards of Education and the Oradell Mayor and Council convene meetings this week. Also coming up is the start of the basketball and wrestling seasons.
The River Dell, Oradell and River Edge Boards of Education will each meet this week for the last time before school lets out for the holidays. River Dell meets on Monday 8pm in the media center. Both Oradell and River Edge meet on Wednesday at 7:30pm, in the and media centers respectively.
Tuesday night the Oradell Mayor and Council has a 7pm public meeting at .

This weekend, the Bergen County Historical Society celebrates their , featuring Linda Russell & Companie, in the Steuben House, by reservation only on Saturday at 7 and 8:30pm and Sunday at 7:30pm. The 6pm Sunday performance is already sold out. Enjoy the holidays with friends and family in the setting of an authentic 18th-century Jersey Dutch tavern and choose from the traditional menu which will feature light tavern fare, including soup & herb biscuit, ploughman plate, fruit pie, hot mulled cider and more.

- Bowling is at Bowler City on Tuesday, 4pm against Mahwah
- Boys Basketball opens their 2011 campaign on Friday 7pm at Indian Hills.
- Girls Basketball opens their 2011 campaign on Friday 7pm at home against Indian Hills. The Lady Hawks will take on Paramus Catholic on Sunday 2pm at Bergenfield.
- Ice Hockey is in Pershing Park on Friday 7pm against Bayonne and then returns to the Ice House in Hackensack on Sunday for a 9am game against Ridgewood.
- Swimming is home at Bergen Community College on Monday 5pm against Demarest and then away on Wednesday 4pm at the Lodi Boys and Girls Club to take on Paramus Catholic.
- Wrestling begins on Saturday 9am with the Cutter Classic at Fair Lawn High School.
Bergen Catholic
- The Crusaders basketball squad opens their season on Friday 7pm against Passaic.
- Hockey is away all week as BC faces CBA on Wednesday at 5pm and then St. Augustine Prep on Friday at 6pm.
- Bowling is home all week with Paramus Catholic on Monday and then Don Bosco on Wednesday. Both games are at 4pm at Bowler City in Hackensack.
- BC will face Paramus Catholic and Don Bosco in the pool as well this week at the Garfield Boys Club. They take on Paramus Catholic on Monday 3pm and then Don Bosco on Friday at 8pm.
- Wrestlers are away this weekend at the Beast of the East tournament at the Bob Carpenter Center, University of Delaware, Newark, DE 19716. The first round begins at 8:30am on Saturday and ending at 5:30pm. Consolation round starts at 7:15pm. On Sunday, the championship quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will be held along with a continuation of the consolation rounds.
