Week Ahead: Council Set to Meet Before Hanukkah and Christmas Celebrations

Welcome to the "Week Ahead," a weekly column that highlights what is coming up this week in RiverDell as the River Edge council has its' second to last meeting of the year.

Monday will be a long night for the River Edge Mayor and Council who will begin the evening at 6pm for a closed session meeting. Borough chambers will reopen at 7pm for a work session and then again at 8pm for the regular meeting.

Celebrate the Festival of Lights with for the first night of Chanukah with a candle lighting service at 5pm on Wednesday where everyone is invited for services and a song fest. Shabbat Chanukah services will be held on Friday, 7:30pm with both the junior and adult choirs performing.

  • Bowling is in Hackensack this week for Monday's game against Bergenfield and then Wednesday's match against Pascack Valley.
  • Boys' basketball has a pair of home-and-home series 7pm games against Mahwah on Tuesday and Ramapo on Thursday.
  • The Lady Hawks have just one match on the court this week by heading to Mahwah on Tuesday, 4:30pm.
  • Ice hockey has drawn an off week and the struggling Golden Hawks will be able to use that time to prepare for the Housley Holiday Tournament on Dec. 28.
  • Indoor track kickstarts their season on Monday, 4pm at the Spike Shoe Invitational at the NYC Armory Track.
  • Swimming is home on Monday, 4pm at the Bergen Community College pool by taking on Ramsey.
  • Wrestlers will take to the mat on Wednesday, 7pm at home against Tenafly.

Bergen Catholic

  • Indoor track will also be at the Spike Shoe Invitational at the NYC Armory Track on Monday 4pm. Then on Wednesday 4pm, the Crusaders face the Boilermakers in Garfield.
  • Bowling has a busy week with JF Kennedy on Monday 4pm, Hackensack on Tuesday, 4pm and then DePaul on Thursday 4pm. All games are played at Bowler City in Hackensack.
  • The Battle of Rt. 17 takes to the court when BC travels to Paramus Catholic on Tuesday, 7pm. Friday night basketball features Don Bosco Prep coming to Oradell at 5pm.
  • Wrestling is home on Thursday, 7pm as South Plainfield comes to Oradell.
  • Arch rival Bosco will also take to the Ice House in Hackensack on Friday, 7:30pm as well.
