Week Ahead: New Mayors, Council-persons Take Office

Welcome to the "Week Ahead," a weekly column that highlights what is coming up this week in RiverDell as both River Edge and Oradell will welcome their new Mayors and Council-people to the dais.
On Monday afternoon, the River Edge reorganization meeting at will be held at 1pm where will each take the oath of office for their respective positions on the council. Moscaritolo will be the first Democratic mayor in town in over 10 years. Papaleo and Murphy will be the lone Democrats in a 4-2 split with Republicans.
Down Kinderkamack Road in Oradell, Joseph Murray will become the newest Mayor in an . Ed Pfleging and Tony Meo will take their seats for their first terms of office. The three men will be sworn in at 2pm at .

The was scheduled to meet on Wednesday but according to the district's website, the 7:30pm meeting has been cancelled.

- Bowling will race two rivals this week in Hackensack, start time is 4pm, with Tenafly on Tuesday and then Ramsey on Thursday.
- Boys' basketball is away all week with Dumont on Tuesday and then Bergenfield on Firday. Both games tip off at 7pm.
- Coming off their Holiday Hoops Jam tournament, the struggling Lady Hawks need to win this week for a confidence boost. But it won't be easy in their home series with Bergenfield on Thursday, 7pm.
- Ice hockey is coming off of big expectations following the Housley Tournament, but will face big rivals in Tenafly (Friday, 7:30pm) in Hackensack and then Pascack Valley (Saturday, 7pm) in Monsey, NY.
- Swimming is away on Sunday at the Tenafly JCC to face the Tigers at 7pm.
- Wrestling has a trio of dual meets all against heavy competition. Tuesday sends the Hawks to Oakland against Indian Hills at 7pm; then back to Oradell for Friday's meet against Ramsey, 7pm; and then stays home on Saturday with Elmwood Park comes to town at 10am.
Bergen Catholic
- Swimming will have a tough day ahead of them on Thursday at the Wyckoff YMCA at 5:30pm as BC visits Northern Highlands.
- Bowling has a busy week with St. Joseph Regional on Wednesday and then Paramus on Friday. Both games are played at Bowler City in Hackensack at 4pm.
- On the court, the Crusaders have JF Kennedy on Thursday (away, 4:15pm). With a few days of practice following the Kennedy game, BC will then travel to Kean University in Union and face the St. Benedict's Prep Gray Bees at 6pm.
- Wrestling is home on Wednesday, 6pm as neighboring Paramus Catholic comes to play out the Rt. 17 rivalry. To follow up, the squad heads to Old Tappan on Friday, 6pm.
- Indoor track has a long way to go to get to the Dartmouth Relays in New Hampshire for Friday's races at 4pm and stays at the University for Saturday's 9am relays.
- Hockey is away in Stockholm on Friday night, 7:30pm against the Pope John Lions. BC returns to the Ice House on Sunday, 7pm against Seton Hall Prep.
