Welcome to the "Week in Review," a weekly column that highlights the top stories that took place in RiverDell including the Golden Hawks and Crusaders state championship runs.

River Dell came into the game having turned the ball over only six times all season. But after taking a 14-12 lead with 2:09 remaining before halftime, River Dell was outscored 20-0 in the second half, falling to West Essex 32-14 at MetLife Stadium on Dec. 3.

Bergen Catholic walked into MetLife Stadium with the goal of beating arch rival Don Bosco for a title, but turnovers and interceptions doomed the Crusadersin a 42-14 loss to the Ironmen.

For years, the lot at near Reservoir Avenue has sat empty as developers have tried to come up with the best option for the two-acre area that slopes down from Kinderkamack Road to railroad tracks below. This week, attorney Tom Barrett presented a request from the current owners for a zoning amendment from the current conditional use for an age-restricted housing zone to allow for 46 residential units to be split between a trio of buildings.

While the River Edge Mayor and Council approved a motion from the floor to  on Kensington and Elm Avenues at last week's meeting, the governing body may have to approve a in early December.

Despite a 10-9-1 record for the season, picked up All-County honors this fall. Defender Robert Quigley and forward Travis Nitti made Third Team All-County with forward Jared Dublin being named Honorable Mention.

For 46 years the YMCA of Greater Bergen County has been honoring the county’s most outstanding high school, college, amateur and professional athletes, as well as coaches and other adults who have given exceptional service to young people. This year at the annual event in Mahwah, of the River Dell and Bergen Catholic communities were memorialized for their achievements.
