Winter Athletes Claim Majority of All-County Nods
Approximately 50 winter athletes from River Dell and Bergen Catholic earned All-County nods
It was an outstanding winter season for the and , culminating in deep runs in the County, Bergen Invitational and State tournaments, new personal records and a league title. The final piece de resistance is that approximately 50 athletes earned first, second, third team or honorable mention by the Bergen County Coaches Association or Bergen County Women Coaches Association to finish up winter months.
Basketball
Four-year starter senior Kate Brock was named to the All-County first team for the third consecutive year. As the fourth Lady Hawk to record and 1,000 rebounds, she also holds the school record for blocked shots (296). Brock, who is bound for Division I Stony Brook University to play volleyball ended her Golden Hawks career with 1,492 points.

Future captain Kayla McGovern, a 5'7" guard, was named Honorable Mention after picking up 46 points her junior year along with 2.9 rebounds per game and 4.1 steals per game. McGovern, with a career total of 60 points, may not be the largest threat on the court in terms of offense but defensively will be a player to watch.
Crusader's small guard Richie DeLuca and his career 365 points earned him an Honorable Mention as well for his senior year. DeLuca netted 261 points in his final year along with 45 assists and 28 steals. The dominating 5'10" presence on the court from Hasbrouck Heights is headed to Bryant University next fall.

Wrestling
With a state, county and region title to his name, it was no surprise that Johnny Sebastian took home a First Team honor as well. Joining him was teammate Connor Melde.
The Crusaders matmen swept the Second Team list with Tyler Casamenti, Lukas Iorio and Carmine Goldsack and the Honorable Mention group as well behind Troy Schaafsma, JP Ascolese, Matt Mangini, Michael Kruklinski, Christian Jenco and Hunter Kiselick.
Representing the Golden Hawks were Lenny Smith, Second Team; DJ Tirelli and Nick Baranello, Third Team; Danny Lynch, John McLaughlin, Brendan Campbell, Cenzo Cariddi and Tyler Kallensee, Honorable Mention.
Swimming
Bergen's John Om wound up on both the First and Second Team lists for his efforts in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays respectfully. He also made First Team in the 100 Breast stroke and Second Team for the 200 IM.
Joining Om in representing the Crusaders were Josh Sembrano, Sebastian Lopez and Liam Kelly in the 200 medley relay. Sembrano and Kelly also participated in the 400 freestyle relay with Om and Rob Farrell.
River Dell's Liam Oberlander swept the Third Team honors in the 50 and 100 Freestyle.
Hockey
Crusaders forward Tucker James and defenseman Connor Wynne both found their names on the Second Team for their efforts on the ice. The two juniors, who led Bergen as the top two scorers will return next winter in red and gold.
Indoor Track
Jamie Woods (55 Hurdles) and Matt Koh (Shot Put) both earned Second Team honors while Paige Fernandez (1000m) made Third Team to finish out their final year with the Golden Hawks.
The bulk of Indoor Track athletes were placed on the Honorable Mention list: Ted D'Amico for Bergen Catholic, Austin Berniger, Christian DeSantis, Calvin Hartman, Brandon Jurasin Craig Marulis, Grace Behrens, Bridget Brindley, Emily Croonquist, Melissa Gibbons, Laura Oh, Sam Schweiger, and the girls 4-x-400 relay for River Dell.
Bowling
River Dell's Max Barnett moved up to First Team honors after placing 35th in the State individual tournament this year. Last year, the River Dell senior was placed on the Second Team list.
Charles Long, Bergen Catholic, moved up from the 2011 Third Team to the 2012 Second Team to finish his Crusaders career. Sophomore Simon Lezaja and senior Brian Hund of Bergen Catholic both earned Honorable Mention.
