Predicted Rain, Winds Postpone Weekend Activities In Rumson

Sports, Historical Preservation Commission events are postponed in Rumson because of coastal storm.

RUMSON, NJ — All weekend community events in Rumson are postponed because of severe weather predicted for the area, the borough announced.

The Rumson Historical Preservation Commission's award ceremony and walking tour will now take place Sunday, Oct. 1, the borough said. The commission will honor this year’s historic preservation award winners, followed by a self-guided walking tour of historic properties, meeting at 1 p.m., Oct. 1 at Victory Park.

All Rumson Recreation youth sport programs are also postponed this weekend, the borough said.

The National Weather Service currently has Monmouth County listed under the following severe weather alerts.

  • Damaging wind advisory, 50-60 mph
  • Up to 2-3 inches of rainfall
  • Coastal flooding
  • High surf advisory

The timeline is set for late evening Friday, with greatest impacts on Saturday.

  • Do not approach or touch any downed wires.
  • Avoid driving or walking past wires tangled in trees and bushes.
