Fair Haven Mayor Ben Lucarelli Resigns, Effective Immediately
Lucarelli was the mayor of Fair Haven for nine years, having served on the borough council before that.

FAIR HAVEN, NJ — Ben Lucarelli has resigned as the mayor of Fair Haven effective immediately, the Fair Haven Borough Administrator announced Tuesday.
"On behalf of the Borough Council members and the citizens of Fair Haven, I want to acknowledge his leadership and many accomplishments during his nine years as Mayor and sincerely thank him for over twelve years of volunteer community service as a member of the Fair Haven Governing Body," Theresa Casagrande said.
Lucarelli did not provide a motive in his letter of resignation, according to the assistant administrator.

In regards to the reason for his resignation, Lucarelli said "no comment." On whether he plans to run for another office, he replied "I plan on spending more time with my beautiful wife."
Lucarelli's term was set to expire on Dec. 31 2022. He was elected as mayor in February 2012 and before that started his first term on the Fair Haven Borough Council in January 2009.

The Republican Committee Chair will now have 15 days to present three names for the Borough Council to choose from to replace Lucarelli.
Outside of politics, Lucarelli is the president of Lucarelli Construction Company in Red Bank, according to the borough's website. He is also on the Board of Trustees for the Two River Theater Company.
"We collectively wish him and his family all the best and look forward to seeing him around town for many years to come," Casagrande wrote.
