Rumson Oceanic Bridge Inspection To Mean Weekday Lane Closure

RUMSON, NJ — Expect continuing lane closures on Oceanic Bridge through Friday, Sept. 29, borough officials said.

The closure is to allow for inspection of the underside of the bridge, which spans the Navesink River, connecting Rumson to Middletown.

The lane closure will be in place Mondays through Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with an estimated completion date of Friday, Sept. 29.

There will be traffic control personnel in place with set-up beginning each weekday between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., the borough said.

The borough is asking residents and motorists in the area to prepare for additional travel time and exercise caution on and around the Oceanic Bridge.

Monmouth County Oceanic Bridge was constructed in 1939, and the county has deemed it in need of a major rehabilitation or replacement. The county is in the process of a study of the bridge.
